The Client:

Startup project Pacq is social network for dogs lovers for sharing wonderful moments with the community.

 

The Task:

Create a corporate identity and produce a mobile application with a unique design.

 

Outcome:

Well designed and user friendly social media mobile APP for niche dog owners to easily interact with the local community while connecting with like-mind people all over the world.

RESEARCH

At the initial stage of the study, I wanted to understand how high the need of users is to share moments from the life of their pets, which pets are most popular on social networks and what kind of problems pet owners have in order to enable the solution using a future application.

The Top 10 Pet Statistics conducted by https://petpedia.co/:    

 

  • Owning a dog may decrease the risk of heart disease-related death by 36%.      

  • Around 10% of pet owners are allergic to their pets.      

  • 94% of families with an autistic child reported that their child bonded with the pet and that it helped with the mental disorder.      

  • Pet stats show that around 44% of people would rather cuddle up with their pet than with their life partner.      

  • There are more than 200 million stray dogs in the world.      

  • It’s estimated that around 2 million animals die in shelters every year.      

  • Around 9% of healthy, adoptable dogs were euthanized in 2017 in Canadian shelters.      

  • Around 90% of lost pets are found within 12 hours if the owner is searching for them.      

  • In 29% of cases, people abandon their pets because their place of residence does not allow pets.

USER INSIGHTS

There are many applications and groups on Facebook where people join to share their experiences about their pets, information, and pleasant moments.

In the course of an analysis of these communities, I came to the conclusion about the motivation of users to join these groups and expand the social network:      

  • Many people want to contact experienced pet lovers to exchange experiences.

  • Want to share fun photos and videos of their favorite pets      

  • Shares and find useful information about pets      

  • Seeking the ability to get pet care advice      

  • Want to get information about reliable veterinarians and dog handlers      

  • Need an opportunity to replace an announcement about the loss of a pet or about finding a lost pet      

  • Placement of an announcement about newborn pets in order to give them to good people      

  • Organization of events for pets and their owners      

  • It is also interesting for users to share information on feed and feeding regimen
